Prayer Gathering
Prayer Gathering – 19 October 2009.
"Step up and step out - a radical surrender"
The following outlines the prayer gathering on the
19th October 2009. The focus of our prayers was the themes from the
current sermon series at GWAC.
The times relate to the evening of the prayer
gathering and the dates relate to the sermon series.
7.30 pm- A call to worship in prayer
Almighty God and merciful Father, pour out on your
church,
The spirit of your Son Jesus, so that dreams may be
dreamt & visions seen.
Open our eyes for his work among people, so that we
may join all those who with persistence and humility pursue his will for our
world.
Holy Spirit of God, who brooded over the waters,
Long before we were born.
Who inspired the people of God to praise and trust;
Who lit the fire of the prophets and sustained
their faith among unbelief;
Who fulfilled through our brother Jesus the hope of
the generations,
And revealed the dimensions of God;
Holy Spirit of God of God fill us with confidence
and make us available;
Teach us to pray and to hear the cries of God’s
children;
Help us to interpret the signs of the times;
And prepare us for the
A time of quiet reflection prayer will be observed,
followed by the viewing of a DVD “I can only imagine”.
During this time – allow God’s Spirit to prompt
your reflections and write them down below.
During the next 45 minutes, we will be spending
time reflecting on the designated preaching text, the focus for teaching and
praying for GWAC’s life and ministry locally and globally.

are the things that people shared that came from the time of reflective prayer
during the night and they are recorded here in the hope that our people will
test what is said to discern if this is of God.
8.00 pm
Theme- The Jesus Factor: Mark 1:14-20 (18th
October)
Focus: The impact of Jesus the Christ on the world
and his call to us to follow him.
Personal reflections:
- URGENCY for witness.
Prayer needs:
- God using us in
challenging times – asking God to direct us.
8.12 pm
Theme- Discipleship on the edge – 2 Timothy 4:1-8 (25th
October)
Focus: Living a balanced life grounded in the faith
and living on the edge.
Personal reflections:
- People gathering
around people who are not speaking the truth.
Prayer needs
- Adhering to the Word.
- Discerning.
- Persistence – in good times and bad with sound doctrine.
- Be prepared, know
what Bible teaches, so we can speak into lives.
8.25 pm
Theme- The prevailing church – Philippians 1:3-11 (1st
November)
Focus: Recognition that the Church is God’s and God
will complete his mission.
Personal reflections:
- Love! Paul’s for his people – teams, those not connected.
- PROMISE of GWAC.
- Time has come- (referring to Mark 1:14-20 to fulfill promise.
- Time will come (referring to 2 Timothy 4) – that is what we are seeing in wider world (e.g. Synod.
- “More and more”,
growth and progress.
Prayer needs:
- God will never allow
anything to frustrate the achievement of His good plan (salvation) both on macro and micro level.
- Depth of insight and discovering direction.
- Need a
prayerful church.
