GETTING INVOLVED IN MISSION
(GWAC Ministry Partners)

GWAC encourages individuals and small groups within our parish to generously support one of our ministry partners in prayer and financially.

Photo-cards and prayer updates are posted in the fellowship area of the church on the Missions rack are to the left of the main notice board. Use these two brochures (from the rack or download here): Reaching Beyond GWAC 1. Ministry Partners & You (pink) and 2. Praying for Mission (yellow).

Please take a prayer card for the person or family you wish to support. Ask the contact person listed (see Ministry Partners webpage or the pink Ministry Partners brochure) or the Church Office to receive updates and newsletters by email.

GIVING TO MISSION

GWAC is committed to give at least 10% of normal collections to supporting our designated ministry partners. For the financial year October 2008 – September 2009, under God, we have committed to give at least $4500 per adult supported in AFES, BCA, CMS and Pioneers ($63K in total), as well as Ridley College and Alpha ($5K total).

Currently, a donation via GWAC (collection or via e-banking) which nominates one of the above partner agencies is counted toward meeting our commitment to that agency. Donations to other agencies are simply forwarded to that agency. In addition, GWAC members are encouraged to support annual appeals for World Vision and Tear Australia and summer missions, our own members on short-term mission and other special appeals (as approved by the church leadership). The Governance Board has made the decision that during 2009 we will move toward treating EACH mission donation received through collection or e-banking, as “in/out” money to be forwarded to the nominated agency above our communal GWAC commitment.

Please support one of our ministry partners in your regular giving. You may do this by giving directly to their mission agency or through your offering to GWAC, by:
- Circling the agency you wish to support on the monthly mission envelope (if you use the giving envelope pack)
- By internet banking, include the agency and amount in the Details of your transaction (so our Finance Manager can track it); for other regular giving arrangement please advise the amount and agency to our finance manager; John Abbott.

ME A MISSIONARY? SHORT TERM MISSIONS

GWAC members are encouraged to explore what it means to become a missionary and the long and short term opportunities available. Explore Mission is a great network for young adults to find out what's possible- meetings every few months nearby.Going on short term mission is a great way to "test the waters" of mission in a different context, and help raise awareness of God's work around the world. Our partner organisations are able to offer advice and opportunities.
For more information abut missionary service and short term opportunities, please speak to a member of the Missionary Advisory Task Force. If you are talking to a mission organisation with a view to possible mission service, it is essential that you keep GWAC informed, as missions require the endorsement of your local church.
