The title for our Thanksgiving Appeal for 2018 at GWAC is "Investing in God's Kingdom" and is designed to help church members reflect on how we might individually sow generously into gospel ministry through the life and witness of GWAC people.
The church leader and biblical scholar, Tim Keller once wrote that 'you don't remove idols; you replace them'. The idol of greed is so insidious and debilitating that it sucks the life out of church communities and the members that make up that community. Sowing generously will happen when we, as disciples, find our hearts captivated by the grace and mercy of God which is demonstrated in the work of Christ on the cross.
When we look at Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, we find someone who gave up the treasures of heaven in order to make us His treasure. The flow on from this act of grace is seen in the lives of God's people as we live out this 'grace' in our daily interactions with others.
If you have not started using the GWAC devotions, I encourage you to do so. You will find the devotions, both on the GWAC App and in this blog. I hope you have been encouraged by the newly released video presentation (above) of interviews with people from GWAC who have been impacted by the gospel of Jesus.
This weekend at our Gathered Celebrations, Bree Mills will continue our Idols series exploring the 'Idol of Control'.
Blessings and Love,
