1 John 1:1-10 Journeying in fellowship with God

May 21, 2018

I feel the close presence of the Lord in a remote place such as Wilson’s Promontory or in the middle of a forest.  When do you feel the presence of the Lord?

The term ‘fellowship’ is mentioned in twice in verses 1 to 4.  In the quiet moments you spend with the Lord, is it a time of ‘fellowship’?  Or when we meet with other followers of Jesus, is it a time of fellowship? When we look at the clarification in vs 3-4, we find that ‘fellowship’ is what truly results when God’s people are in genuine relationship with the father through the son. To hear, see and touch Jesus, is to know the Word of life.

I remember making my step in faith over twenty years ago at a Tony Campolo crusade.  I felt very vulnerable and in a lot of pain.  That move was a step towards the light.

To walk in the light is certainly a contrast to walking in the dark.  How does one distinguish the difference as one journey’s in life?  When I get together with our life group,  pray and share from the bible, the presence of Jesus in the Holy Spirit enlightens our fellowship and  my soul is encouraged.  A time of truth in love.   God is in the room ! “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” (vs 7)

The Apostle John reminds us that we are all sinners; “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.  But if we confess our sins, God is faithful and righteous and forgives our sin and cleanses us from all unrighteousness” (vs 8).  Ask for his forgiveness and God will forgive and cleanse you.  And be a light to the world.  Share this reality with someone today.
