I am about to do a new thing...
We praise God for providing us with our new Lead Pastor! We wholeheartedly welcome the Rev Phil Meulman and his wife Barbara as future members of GWAC family. Phil and Barbara have three adult children.
Phil has a wide and long history in ministry and community involvement. In 1996 he was ordained as a curate at All Saints Clayton. In 1998 Phil moved to Holy Trinity Doncaster. Then in 2001 he became Priest-In-Charge at Rowville and Ferntree Gully Anglican Church (known as RAFT) He was made Incumbent in 2004 upon the merger of the two parishes. After 10 years at RAFT, Phil accepted the position as Incumbent at St Marks Forest Hill in 2014.
An induction service for Phil will be held at GWAC on Thursday, 30 January 2020 at 7:30pm.
We give thanks to God for the faithful work of the Incumbency Committee- Rochelle Ratnayake, Ray Ternes and Bob Barclay.
“Well done good and faithful servants!”
“I am about to do a new thing, now it springs forth, do you not know it?” (Isaiah 43:19) When the Lord asks, do you not know it? He is saying, do you want to open yourself to my new thing? Are you willing to embrace it?
This verb “know” in the Hebrew language is far more than intellectual awareness. It has to do with the total giving of yourself, as in the husband–wife relationship within marriage. This “knowing” is a total embrace. The Lord is saying, I am going to do a new thing. Will you embrace it? Will you receive it into your life?
I believe that if God is saying He’s going to do a new thing, then it’s not for us to watch as spectators. The Lord wants to imprint it on our lives. He wants to take the “new thing” and work it in us, so that it will be abiding and durable in our lives and in our thoughts. Are we, at Glen Waverley Anglican Church, willing to open ourselves to His “new thing?” Are we willing to embrace it?
Daily prayer is one way we can wholeheartedly welcome and embrace our new Lead Pastor Phil and his wife Barbara. Please pray:
That we continue to demonstrate great love, faith and commitment as we walk together as a body in a unified way during the remainder of this transition and beyond.
That the words we speak honour our God in every way.
That Phil and Barbara will be anxious for nothing during their transition, and that every detail of this transition is covered.
For the congregation of St Mark’s Forest Hill as they grieve the loss of Phil and Barbara from their community.
For Phil and Barbara as they say goodbye to their current support system at St Mark's.
Become a blessing to Phil and Barbara, as well as the CMS card ministry available at GWAC Sunday 13th Oct. Choose to personally send cards of welcome and encouragement to our new incoming Lead Pastor. Praise God for His provision!
